Almost lost article
Hello: this is my case. It turns out I buy an item on eBay, they send it to me with DHL from Germany to Spain. They make a delivery attempt and I’m not at home, so the package is supposedly left at the hub 100 km from my home. Days go by and no new delivery attempt is communicated; finally on the last day it says it is loaded for delivery and 7 minutes later the tracking says that the recipient is unknown and that it is going to be returned to origin. I tell the seller and after about 12 days the return hasn’t arrived, and it also doesn’t seem like they cared much. I tell eBay, my mistake is that I requested a refund. eBay tells me no. More than 40 days have already passed since the shipment, and 20 since the return. The seller doesn’t care, eBay doesn’t either; basically, since I wasn’t home on the delivery day, they cling to that. I decide to drive 100 kilometers to DHL’s hub, ask for the package, and it was in incident handling. They spent half an hour looking for it, but it was there. They hand it over to me and it had a label that was laughable, like someone sending a Christmas card. No phone number, no email, and according to DHL they also didn’t have them in the database. The seller, besides being a bit unserious, seemed quite inexperienced, but what eBay did seems shameful to me. If you don’t give the carrier the tools, how the hell is it going to deliver it. Without an email it can’t notify you and without a phone number it can’t call you either to see if you’re at home or to leave it with a neighbor. It has been a whole mess of screw-ups from everyone that in the end worked out, but it annoyed me a lot because in the end the buyer is the one who pays for everything and also has to sort it out themselves. Not a shred of help, starting with the label or the exact location or the package claim. An absolute disaster overall, but with a happy ending.
