Illogical changes in customs duties and shipping
Hello.
I’m planning to buy a part for my bike from a seller in the UK.
I made him an offer, he rejected it, and he told me by message that the minimum he’d go down to was £389.
I make the offer of £389 and I get shipping charges of £36 and an eBay GSP hub fee of £103... The budget works for me. I send the offer but it comes back as automatically rejected.
I talk to the seller. He sends me a custom offer for £389, but guess what, when I accept it the shipping costs go up to £40 and the customs fees etc. for GSP, to £125!!!! For the same sale amount.
But what’s already ridiculous is that I back out and go to buy the product at its original starting price with Buy It Now!. The price is £415... And guess what, the shipping costs also come out to £40 and the fees are also £125... An outrage...
Very little transparency with this whole thing of buying through the eBay GSP hub... Supposedly more convenient, they handle everything, but at what price and for what exactly?
Otherwise what do I do? The seller sent me the product through an agency and of course, if it gets lost, it doesn’t arrive... eBay washes its hands of it...
Years ago I was a good user, I got fed up, and closed my account. I reopened it recently but there’s just no way, with other buy and sell apps out there...
