commissions for sales not made
I have suffered the bitter reality of how Ebay works. I sold an item for 1750 euros. When it arrived to the buyer, it turned out that he did not like it and I proceeded to accept the return. When I got it back, the item arrived with several breaks, caused by the lack of proper protection on the buyer’s part.
After an agonizing process of sending photos, statements, and the rest, Ebay determines that I am not protected by their policy and goes on to charge me 247 euros in fees. A policy of total abuse because the buyer got their money back after filing a claim through their bank, in which Ebay runs away and the easiest thing is to charge a fee for a sale not completed to the clever seller who believes all of Ebay’s conditions that appear on all their pages. Of course, I will never sell through that pirate platform again

OP11 months agoHello, Cinthia:
the review of the case is simple. I sold an item for 1750 euros. When the buyer received it, in perfect condition, he asked to return the item because of 2 small details. I offered him an additional discount of 300 euros; he asked me for 500 euros, and I decided to have him return it because it was a complete abuse on his part. When I received the item, it arrived with several broken pieces. I opened the dispute and after photos, appeals, etc. and apparently eBay received a VISA dispute so that the buyer could get his money back, since the funds had always been held, eBay simply sided with the buyer, who had caused the damage through lack of care in the packaging and who did not even file a claim with his country's postal service. Obviously, upon receiving the VISA communication, eBay ruled immediately against the seller, whom EBAY's protection policies simply did NOT protect, and then I received the charge in my bank of 247 euros, which is the exact amount of the commission for the NO SALE, ALLEGING HANDLING FEES. In summary, from a sale of 1,750 euros, the seller is left with the broken item and the 247 euros that EBAY charges for the non-sale and the 32 euros in shipping costs, which were to be paid by the buyer.
A situation that makes you think a lot about whether to keep trying to sell on this platform

Hello @sigrid0794,
I understand that this has been the resolution of a dispute with the payment provider (VISA). When the dispute is opened with the payment processor, eBay cannot make any decision and it is in Visa’s hands or the hands of the banking institution. eBay will only give you updates on the decisions that the payment processor makes.
If you wish to appeal the decision, you will have to do so directly with the payment provider.
I trust this information is helpful.
Regards
Cinthia
