Purchase of an item from Great Britain
I'm annoyed by the information I consider misleading from ebay. First of all, in a search, it mixes products with non-comparable prices, for example when a producer from the European Union appears in the list alongside one from Great Britain. Just as it does when updating shipping costs, it should include VAT if applicable.
After sending an offer for a specific price, when I bought it they charged me VAT, something they could have warned me about at the time of sending the offer. In addition, my shipment is being delayed (so far a week) because it is in customs processing. I have had to send documentation and I am waiting for them to tell me whether everything is correct or not. In any case, the days go by and, curiously, ebay sends me an email to vote for the seller. I would prefer that they send me an email to vote for ebay

Hi @2015-solac,
Thank you for your message. I understand that the search includes items in the European Union and Great Britain, and I have sent a message to the department in charge of this issue so they can review this information.
As for VAT, as you probably know, on eBay we have sellers from all over the world and the total purchase amount can only be calculated when you're ready to complete the payment, since that's when we detect your location and match it with the seller's location (item), and the total is calculated at that moment. In other words, it won't be the same price for you as for someone in Japan or the United States, so VAT is calculated at the time of payment.
If you do not receive your item within the estimated delivery date, I’m telling you how to open the request yourself so you can begin the process to ask for a refund and support our guarantee, if you are still within these 30 days. You can open the case here, this will alert the seller so they can start the refund process and the communication between the seller and you.
It is rare for sellers to ignore your help request, but if you do not receive a response after a few days, you can request eBay help if you go into the case from your account and click the option "Ask eBay for Help".
Best regards
Cinthia

OP2 years agoAnd why are shipping costs known in advance but the application of VAT isn't? I think eBay is clear from the start about the buyer's and seller's location.
