Shopping in Japan
Hi, a seller from Japan told me something like eBay refunds you the VAT they charged you once the product is received. Is that true or have I misunderstood? Thanks in advance

Thank you for your inquiry. On eBay, import duties and VAT applicable to items purchased internationally are the responsibility of buyers. eBay does not provide a refund for these taxes. Buyers should be prepared to cover import and VAT costs when their items arrive.
If the seller in Japan informed you that eBay would reimburse the VAT, this is not correct according to current policies.
