Set up shipping costs
Hi,
I have been forced to cancel a purchase with a buyer because of the following problem.
Previously, when setting a shipping cost per product/item, if the buyer purchased (for example) 3 items, the shipping cost was multiplied by 3, no problem because once I sent it I would refund the buyer the difference, or sooner if I knew the final weight and volume of the items and packaging.
But I have run into the ugly situation where a buyer has now purchased 3 items, but the fixed shipping cost has only been applied to 1 item. Clearly I cannot absorb that extra cost (a package to the USA), so I have had to do the very unpleasant thing of canceling it.
the calculated cost that Correos España charges me to send one item with that volume/weight is about 9€ to the USA, of course, 3 items goes into two higher price brackets and shoots up to almost 20€. But Ebay has only paid me (and charged the buyer) 9€.
What is happening compared to how it worked before? What is happening now?
This causes a lot of inconvenience for buyers and sellers (who are affected by bad feedback ratios because of the inconvenience caused). But I’m also not going to set a shipping cost of 20€ for each item, which makes what the buyer pays too expensive.
Not to mention the penalties that Ebay applies for canceling such a sale, completely unjustified (and not legal according to European law and in particular Spanish law).
The most serious thing... Ebay is forcing document forgery by forcing the seller to choose between only 3 cancellation reasons (without including "Other reasons" or "Error in the process"), which is a criminal offense under current law (more than 20 years in force, by the way).
How can this be fixed?
How can I set it so the cost is according to the number of items sold?
Why is the information not clear about how Ebay penalizes the seller for canceling a product? (I already know the answer to this last one, which is a crime on Ebay's part, but I hope members of the platform can clarify it).
Thanks

Hello,
We’re sorry to read your comments.
We assure you that at eBay we place great importance on ensuring that sellers and buyers can complete transactions without any kind of issues.
We recommend that you read this guide carefully here where you will find all the information you need to offer combined shipping costs.
Sellers have the option to specify in each listing how to take advantage of combined shipping when buying multiple items. This means that if the seller specifies in the listing (in the Shipping and Payments section) the shipping costs for multiple items, the buyer will simply have to add the items to the cart and will see the total combined shipping cost shown to them at checkout.
If these costs for selling multiple items are not specified in the listing, our advice to the buyer would be to always contact the seller before proceeding with payment, to allow the seller to send an updated combined invoice with the shipping costs.
Likewise, please keep in mind that we encourage our sellers to avoid canceling orders in order to prevent unsatisfactory buying experiences, as has been your case
Please note, though, that since we are not with the sellers, we would not be able to know the exact reason why a seller decides to cancel an order; however, this would impact their account and could result in restrictions on it. On this page you can see everything you need to know about it.
