VAT refund and customs fees.
Good morning, I have received an item, a camera, defective from Japan and I have returned it, all via FedEx with all the paperwork in order. I have had to pay the VAT and the Spanish customs fees to FedEx and the return costs, since it is a defective item, are the buyer's responsibility; the item has already been sent back via FedEx. My question is: If I have paid the VAT and customs fees to FedEx and the package has been returned via FedEx too, what happens to the VAT I have paid for an item I do not have? I understand that neither I nor FedEx should have to pay VAT for an item that has been returned. My question is: Who do I have to claim these expenses from and/or how? Who is responsible for them? Who do I claim them from, the seller for sending a defective item, FedEx for being the one that charged me, eBay as the company or intermediary platform. I'm totally lost, without the item and without 110 euros. Thanks for the help.

Hello @brigante1966,
Thank you for your message. I understand that you have already paid the VAT for the return of the item and I suggest you request a refund only for the VAT that has been duplicated here and we will refund that expense.
To request a VAT refund on a completed order, log in and upload proof of overpayment. We will ask you for the information related to the transaction and you will receive a refund of the VAT you paid twice.
I hope this information is helpful
Best regards,
Cinthia
