The seller changed the shipping conditions after winning the bet
Good afternoon everyone,
I’m writing to you from the Canary Islands, Spain. Two days ago I won an auction in which I was the only participant. An item that normally sells on eBay for around 150 euros I was able to buy out of the box for around 15 euros, all this in USD since the seller is from the United States (it’s a collectible figure). The auction listing specified that shipping would be done through the eBay Shipping Programm; in fact, that’s how all the items the seller has on their profile are handled, and I was able to confirm that for all of them shipping would reach the Canary Islands. This program sometimes allows shipments to the islands or only to the mainland; you can check by trying to buy it without completing the purchase; I’ve already bought and received several things from the US this way.
Everything seemed to be going well until I won the auction and went to complete the purchase; then I found that shipping doesn’t reach the Canary Islands. I then changed to my other address in Madrid and it turns out it still won’t let me. The shipping conditions disappeared and instead it says: only ships to the United States ask the seller. All the other listings they have active still show the eBay Shipping Programm and it lets me buy them without any problem.
I’ve called customer support several times and sometimes they tell me to keep pressing the seller (which I’ve already done; he says he doesn’t know anything about it and that eBay handles everything, and that’s as far as we get), other times they tell me this usually happens because the seller didn’t make a profit on the auction and is trying to cancel it, and others say to report it and keep messaging them.
At this point the seller no longer wants anything to do with me, customer support isn’t telling me anything new, and I know nothing about the report I made. My time to pay expires tomorrow or the day after and they haven’t solved anything for me.
Honestly, wasting someone’s time to win an auction and then pull this kind of stunt should be punished with a ban from the platform, but obviously you can’t force them to sell something.
I’ll be happy and attentive to answer anything. Thanks for reading.
*P.S.: Customer support, if they see that they still haven’t solved anything for you, won’t send you a message asking you to leave a review. They’re sharp enough for that.

OP2 years agoGood evening, thanks for the reply, even if it doesn't help much. In the end the purchase was canceled by reporting the item. All for nothing.
It turns out I think the problem is caused by eBay. I'll explain my new problem now:
The day before yesterday, when trying to buy two items from a seller in the USA, the shipping prices weren't combined, kind of cheekily. I spoke with the seller so he could make me a combined item and he kindly did, as I had already done with other sellers successfully on other occasions. When I managed to access the combined item, it turns out it can't be shipped to my address. However, I can buy any item from his store and I was able to buy the two items separately without any problem before the combined one. The seller tells me that he has done exactly the same as he has with all his other items, he checks it and I don't doubt his words since it would be stupid for him to go to the trouble of combining it and for it to be the only item in his store that I couldn't buy. It seems that eBay International Shipping has more mysteries than Jumanji. It lets you or doesn't let you in arbitrarily, IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. The program has bugs that even customer service agents can't resolve or, I think, understand, because they just leave the problem between the seller and the buyer. Surely after my call tomorrow to these friendly workers I won't get anything solved and I'll have to pay the 90 euros so they can send it to Madrid plus another 20 euros so they can send it here with an outside company. When I could save 33% of all this if eBay International Shipping worked properly.

Hello,
We’re sorry to read what happened.
At eBay, we encourage our sellers to avoid canceling orders in order to prevent unsatisfactory buying experiences, as has been your case
Please keep in mind that, since we are not with the sellers, we wouldn’t be able to know the exact reason why a seller decides to cancel an order; this would affect their account and could result in restrictions on it.
