Shipping to the Canary Islands
Hi,
I’ve sold an item with domestic shipping of 20e, it’s a large item, and it has been sold to a buyer in the Canary Islands. Looking at several options, I can’t find shipping for less than 40e... the sale is not worth it at all.
What would be the best way to sort this out?
Thanks

Hello @masquetoys,
Thank you for your message. It’s possible to cancel the transaction and refund the buyer by following the platform’s official policies. This usually happens with large items, since shipping to island regions involves additional logistics and customs costs that are not always covered in the original domestic shipping setup. I recommend following these steps to resolve your case:
Inform the buyer about the situation. Explain that the shipping costs to the Canary Islands exceed the amount shown in the listing and that, for that reason, you are forced to cancel the sale.
Cancel the transaction from the sales section of your eBay account by selecting the reason "problem with the buyer's shipping address" (or, as applicable, "the shipping cost is higher than stated").
Request the full refund from the buyer. eBay makes this option available and both the payment and the fee are returned to the buyer and the seller, respectively.
If you continue selling bulky items, we recommend reviewing the shipping zones and rates for the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla in your future listings, specifying special conditions if you consider it necessary.
I hope this information is helpful and send you my regards.
Cinthia
