Let me tell you how I lost my account after 20 years “in service.” I sold an item worth more than 2,000 euros, sent it to the address listed on eBay with the shipping method agreed with the buyer, of course sent by registered mail. The item is delivered and the buyer says he hasn’t received it, and there you have the buyer’s fraud in collusion with eBay. While for an item below 750 euros it’s enough that the shipping status says “delivered,” for an item that eBay values as “high value,” the platform requires proof of the recipient’s signature to verify that it was he who picked it up, proof that the sender cannot have unless there is an express claim that can take (as happened to me) about a month... much longer than eBay gives you to provide that documentation. eBay.com is the one handling this matter, so it doesn’t matter how many times you ask for a call from ebay.es staff, that is, in Spanish. In short, eBay sided with the buyer and, to top it off, demanded that I refund the entire amount received from the sale of the item. In other words: the buyer keeps the item and the money. Perfect move.Throughout this whole process, of course, I communicated both with the postal service (which was foreign, in the Czech Republic) and with the postal ombudsman, and both required me to first file a claim with Correos España. The thing is, a month later, after that prior claim, I managed to get that famous recipient signature, a signature that wasn’t really one (file attached) since what they did was just a “seen,” with no name, nothing. Another perfect move by the scammer was not putting his name in the address, but the name of a company, so the postal service would not deliver to a specific person, but to whoever happened to be available at the company (a Czech flower shop, to be precise).After handing over to eBay all the evidence mentioned here, they told me they were not going to change their initial position “much to my regret.” Unbelievable. How did the story end? Very easy: eBay charged my account, a charge I immediately reversed and blocked them from making future charges. Be very careful!
