INVOICE SENT BY SELLER, IT IS HIGHER THAN WHAT I PAID
Hi, I have a problem with a seller. It turns out I bought 2 items that totaled US$300, but I accepted an offer and ended up paying US$220 and the eBay receipt shows US$200. When the seller sent the item, they sent it with an invoice for the initial amount of US$300, and that made me have to pay taxes in my country. What can I do?

Hello @jmansi,
Thank you for your message. I understand that the seller did not update the item's price to reflect the cost you paid and because of this you had to pay import taxes.
Normally, you will need to contact the seller so they can update the import document, but it is important to note that since this payment is the buyer's responsibility, we would not be able to ask the seller to reimburse you for this amount.
I recommend that you contact the seller directly and try to reach a solution that is fair to both of you. If something similar were to happen again in the future, I recommend that you contact the seller before paying the tax to make sure that the price calculated for the tax payment reflects the amount you paid for the item.
Best regards
Cinthia

OP2 years agoHello.
I have communicated with the seller many times and I have many emails that I have sent to the seller and responses from the seller refusing to reimburse me even a small amount.
When the seller sent the product from Brazil through DHL, he included the invoice inside the box. Once the package arrived in Peru and DHL did the inspection, it verified the invoice with the amount of US$ 350.00 and, in coordination with the tax authority, generated the tax payment order.
Do you think DHL and the TAX AUTHORITY are going to wait for the supposed seller to update the invoice, since DHL charges storage by the day?
How do you think the seller should update the invoice? Is he going to go to DHL in Brazil and say: "I made a mistake in the amount, this is the invoice with the real amount"? And then DHL Brazil will notify DHL Peru and DHL Peru in turn the TAX AUTHORITY to reverse the transaction? Do you know what you are saying or is it just what you think? Because apparently you have no idea about the customs clearance process.
What a lack of seriousness from EBAY and its advisors in shifting responsibility to the buyer when clearly the seller made the MISTAKE and "TOUGH LUCK" the seller got it wrong and that's it, let the buyer pay the tax, in other words lose his money because that's what EBAY came up with. What if he had put an amount of US$2000, US$3000?
You and an irresponsible seller whom you protect are the ones who have caused me to lose money.
