Seller warranty
Good morning
In July 2022 I bought a replacement part for my vehicle. That part failed in October 2023, and the seller stated in the listing that it had a two-year warranty. After contacting the seller more than two months ago, all he gives me are excuse after excuse. I suggested that he give me the address to send him the defective part, and instead he has asked me for the following (which I have provided):
- Verification of the vehicle model on EBAY, photo of the car's VIN number, photo of the part's fault, and I also sent him the invoice showing that the replacement part was installed at a repair shop, not by me. Even so, he is asking me for a mechanic's report on the fault itself, which I am no longer going to provide because that professional is not obliged to do it, nor am I obliged to provide it to him.
I think he is stalling and stalling to run out the two-year period, and I don't see where to claim this on EBAY.
The solution I am asking for is that he either sends me the same item, or refunds my money because it failed within the warranty period.
What can I do about it?
Thanks in advance, regards

Hello,
We’re sorry to read what you’re telling us.
Please keep in mind that when you buy an item on eBay, you do so directly from the seller registered on our platform.
Since this was a purchase made so long ago, it wouldn’t be covered by that buyer protection program. Since we don’t sell the items directly, we wouldn’t have the possibility of offering a warranty on the product, or even being able to contact the seller for you. This would be because current data protection laws prevent us from contacting the seller for you in these types of situations, and it’s something that is normally possible through claims.
For all this, the only thing we could recommend is to keep trying to contact the seller to see whether they can help you with the product warranty, or even try contacting the manufacturer

OP2 years agoGood evening
First of all, thank you for your response
The truth is, I find it a bit sad that EBAY does not provide any guarantee in this type of situation; if that is the case, then it should not allow a seller to put "2-year warranty" on their item, as in my case, if they then do not offer it and, if they do not, there is no action available through the app/portal to protect or provide solutions to these problems 😞
The time since the purchase of course exceeds 30 days for claims, but I am still demanding that the warranty be honored (as if you buy something at Carrefour, for example) and they pretend not to know, asking me for more and more absurd things to drag out the time. All that's left for me is to take my car and show up in his country so he can see it and believe it.
As I said, thank you for your time and response, but I think they should improve the level of protection for buyers in these situations of helplessness
Regards
