They want to charge me for canceling a bid
Hi, eBay wants to charge me for canceling a bid 2 days after creating it. That information is hidden so you can only find it unless you read the fine print; at no point do they clearly warn you about it throughout the whole process of creating it. A clear attempt to squeeze money out of users. Is there any way to avoid this unfair charge?

We're sorry to read what you’re saying, and we assure you that eBay will never charge you any amount beyond the amount shown when completing a purchase. What you’ve explained would not be a charge in any case, and it would disappear automatically from your account if the offer is not accepted.
We recommend that you check with your bank to understand whether they have held the funds you are referring to. They will be able to confirm that the charges are indeed held/pending and not charged/billed, and they can also give you more precise information about when they will reverse those charges.

OP2 years agoHello, yes, they did charge me that money. I think my question wasn’t clear. I started a bid and after 2 days, for legitimate reasons, I had to cancel it. That cancellation wasn’t problematic for either of the parties involved. But eBay still decides in these cases to take some money from the seller, in this case me. I have no problem with eBay trying to squeeze money out of the situation as long as they give a clear warning. The problem comes when, at the moment you create a new bid, they give you all the tools to create it, they force me to give them my bank details under the excuse of depositing money into my account in case I have something to collect, and at no point before all this process making it clear that there is a penalty for cancellation. It may be specified somewhere, but if it is, it is clearly hidden. Not even when canceling it do they warn you that it will cost you money. The reason? To take the money
