eBay tracking numbers
This has already happened to me on two occasions. When making purchases from the US, eBay calculates the VAT I have to pay (by the way, it calculates it wrong and I’ve always had to pay again when it reaches customs) and it also assigns a shipping code (tracking) that only eBay recognizes and that is not the S10-type code of the Universal Postal Union, which all postal companies worldwide use to validate and track a shipment. eBay changes the original shipment number to its own. The original number is hidden from the buyer. Without the UPU number you can’t track the shipment through the postal companies handling it, or log in to the customs paperwork page, or anything. The eBay number, on the other hand, is useless. Only for tracking within eBay and even then many times not even for that, since it easily "loses track" (days go by without the shipment status being updated). I don’t understand that insistence on changing a number that is useful for the user into one that is completely useless. It only makes the buyer’s life more complicated. If eBay wants its tracking numbers to be used, it should make them recognized by postal and customs processing services.
