It doesn't accept valid ID card and passport to verify my account
Good morning,
I moved to Spain from Argentina a while ago. Last November I created a new account on ebay.es with an address in Spain. When I want to post items for sale, it takes me to verify my account.
In one part it asks me for nationality, date of birth, and an ID. I have Italian citizenship as well as Argentine, so I selected Italy and tried to enter my Italian passport number but it gives me "Enter a valid official identification document" (even though the selected nationality and the ID entered are correct).
I tried selecting Argentina and entering my Argentine ID, and it gives me the same error. Just to test it, I selected Spain and entered my NIE, and again the same error.
What can I do? It doesn't seem to be my mistake if it doesn't accept valid IDs from my nationalities (Italian and Argentine), nor the NIE.
Regards,
Fernando Prato

Hello @ferpra
Thank you for your message, I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble registering with your INE. Indeed, replacing the number 0 with the first letter of the NIE will allow you to register; if that’s not the case, write to me again and I’ll be happy to continue helping.
Best regards
Cinthia

OP2 years agoThat’s it, I was able to solve it on my own. I saw that many others had the same thing happen to them too. What I did is the following:
- Choose Spain as nationality
- Enter birth date
- Enter NIE with a zero at the beginning instead of the letter, and the normal letter at the end. Example: My case was Y8898629N and it accepted it when I entered "08898629N"
But it would be good if that format were clarified somewhere, since I had to go through page after page of questions until I saw someone mention the zero at the beginning, and then I tried with the zero and no letter at the end, with the zero and the letter at the end, etc., until it accepted it.
