Car door damaged during transport
Hello, hi, I’d like to ask for advice here. I ordered a second-hand door from a scrapyard through eBay, the scrapyard sent me photos before shipping it and the door was perfect, but the transport company, besides not meeting the delivery time of 24 to 48 hours and delivering it in more than 72 hours, on top of all that charged me 78.65 euros in shipping costs, the door arrived damaged in transit. The thing is that I opened a case about this, and the scrapyard, who have treated me well at all times, have told me that eBay won’t let them refund me the shipping part because I have the case open and I would have to close it. What can I do? Can I close the case and wait for the shipping amount to be refunded, or can I claim compensation from the transport company for damaging the order? The thing is that I want to keep the door because I can’t find another one

Thanks for your message. It’s a slightly different case. Normally, we ask that you don’t close the case, since if you close it voluntarily, eBay can no longer intervene in the process of the refund of the item and the shipping costs you originally paid when you bought the item.
I understand that you do not want to return the door or get a refund for the item. You only want a refund for the extra cost the carrier charged you, so the return case can only cover you if you want to send the door back and receive a refund.
You’ll be able to contact the carrier to see your options, since normally it is the sender who has to request compensation, and this is where your seller can help you.
