I purchased a product from Dubai with reference 5314133140 with a delivery date of June 6, 2024. It turns out that I took a screenshot when I was trying to contact the seller and it showed that it was June 5, so I have two dates. It is a simple front emblem for the Toyota Camry vehicle model. To simplify, the problem is that to deliver one item or another that is not within the countries belonging to the European Union, they are sent directly to the customs agency. Both this agency and the DHL mail operating agency request your passport or identification, either by phone or by email. Then the seller himself tells you that you must provide it so they can inform their client’s details to whom he sends the product. At the time, after complaining to those agencies, they told me that the only thing they wanted was to know whether I agreed to receive said item, but it was already on its way back because they tried to contact me on two occasions and it was not possible. I asked them to provide the customs agency number so that when they called the customer and he did not answer for some reason, he could call back, but they still do not have it set up because my mobile did not register missed calls so I could contact them. On the other hand, correo sent me some messages requesting my identification, but as I stated earlier, I did not agree because that went against data protection law. I must state that I flatly refuse to provide any documentation due to phishing and identity theft; I do not agree to provide my personal data on the social network. I have told the seller that, please, refund the cash I paid for the item, and he replies that he cannot refund it because eBay partially does not allow it. Something I do not understand because on the website it says that all your purchases are covered by eBay’s Customer Guarantee. I can understand that they need documentation to verify or collect customs duties because it is a product that is not within the European Union, but that I should have to publish my personal data online for that seems smart to me. Given these circumstances, I have requested a full refund of the cash deposited, telling the seller to charge the shipping amount he carried out from the very beginning to the PayPal account he requested from me, which by the way I had to reactivate to cover the expenses derived from the shipment. I also gave him the return number (7252735125) so he can recover his item and put it back up for sale. As they have continued requesting personal data, I have decided to reject the shipment of the item as soon as possible. I hope that after this detailed explanation, the seller understands that the safety of both myself and my family comes above all else. I look forward to this incident being resolved and the entire eBay team taking an interest in reaching a good solution. Thank you
PS: It is important that the seller always tells the recipient whether the product he sells comes with a customs surcharge, since at first I was not informed and only found out when I began to track the shipment, which did not arrive on the stated date. The agencies wanted to contact me to ask whether I was willing to pay to receive said item. I understand that this is a somewhat opaque way of selling because I had only intended to pay the amount I paid initially. Beware of these sales strategies!!! Best regards
