False delivery attempt
I've been at home all day waiting for the package, listening for the doorbell. And late in the day (around 9 p.m.) I get a notice saying delivery was unsuccessful. I know nobody rang my apartment, so all I can think is that either they rang the wrong one, or the courier just marked it as attempted and that was that. What really pisses me off is that, with total cheek, they tell me they tried to deliver the package when I was at home waiting for it to arrive

Hello @jonbonjovies, thanks for your inquiry.
Do you have the tracking number? If so, can you see what it says? Like, does it say they attempted delivery or does it still just say it’s on its way? If it says delivery attempted, they will probably try to deliver it again in a day or two, roughly.
Either way, if the tracking information says the item was delivered and the delivery address matches your shipping address, it won’t be possible to take action or force a refund, since the tracking information says the item was delivered to the correct address.
In cases like this, you’ll need to contact the seller and the carrier to try to obtain proof of non-delivery from the carrier confirming that the tracking information is incorrect and the item was lost in transit or delivered to the wrong address.
In the event that it says it was delivered, but to a different or completely wrong address, or that it is simply still in transit but has not arrived within the estimated delivery date, then you will be covered by eBay’s Customer Guarantee.
We recommend checking your estimated delivery date to make sure it has already passed and is still within the 30-day period. To see your order details, sign in to the account you used to place the order and go to the purchase history of your eBay account.
If your order is outside the 30-day protection period, since we won’t be able to step in or open a case from eBay outside the 30-day period, we suggest contacting the seller. Normally, they should be aware of the shipment and may also be able to offer you a solution or alternative to this issue.
If your order is within the 30-day period, you can open the case without any problems; just keep in mind that once the case is opened the seller will have 3 business days to resolve the issue. If within the 3 business days the seller does not offer you any kind of replacement or refund or an option that satisfies you, you can ask us for help so that we can try to find a solution for you.
I hope this helps,
Marco
