Package lost by Correos Express Packlink
Hi, Correos Express has lost a package that I was supposed to deliver to a customer, so of course I had to refund the amount, now Packlink tells me after 3 weeks that the case is in the hands of the insurance and that in about 30 days they’ll tell me something, is this normal? what is seller protection for? Everything was done through eBay’s shipping manager (which is Packlink) eBay doesn’t want to know anything about it, has anything similar happened to you?

·3 years agoIt’s been quite a few years now since seller protection existed; the only sales protection there is runs from the shipment of the item until its estimated receipt date, and after that, nothing. In practice, protection boils down to about 15–20 days domestically and about 20–40 days internationally, and that’s only if you ship with real tracking, meaning the tracking doesn’t disappear, because if it does disappear (common internationally), protection is zero from day one, the same as shipping without tracking.
And in case you didn’t know, currently not accepting returns means that if there are problems you don’t want the item sent back to you, so you end up without the item and without the money. And if you do accept returns, you pay for the return shipping even if you had defined otherwise. Since the only rule that counts is the one eBay defines, the seller is no longer really a seller; they become a simple supplier of goods, with no control over the sale.
eBay has no in-house service in its structure; everything is outsourced. Packlink is also a subcontractor, it is NOT a carrier like Correos, DHL, etc. It buys shipping blocks from those real carriers and then uses them to carry out the service under the contracted rules, not as defined and advertised by the real carrier.
As can be seen, a direct contract with a carrier (e.g. contracting with Correos) is NOT the same as contracting with a subcontractor (Packlink in this case). It could happen that some feature of the original contract no longer exists when the same service is subcontracted, for example insurance.
So it’s clear they don’t want anything to do with it, and yes, it has happened many times already.
