Order from the US to the Canary Islands (medical product)
Hi,
I placed an order with a seller in the United States for a hemodialysis catheter for personal use, the total cost was 74.95 euros including shipping. In the order tracking it says that it was sent via eBay international shipping and I have several questions:
-Is it possible that I have to pay something extra in customs and things like that before receiving it or when it arrives at my home?, and if so, how much would I have to pay?
-Is it possible that, since it is a medical product, it gets held at customs and in the end never arrives?
I hope you can help me as I am quite distressed

·2 years agoAnother thing to keep in mind with customs and medical devices is that they must go through review by “ For Customs Pharmacy” dependent on the Ministry of Health. They verify that the medical device complies with European Union regulations, so they may ask you to provide proof that the purchased product complies with them. If you can’t provide it, they may return the package to its origin.

·2 years agowhich has a legal maximum period of 45 days, don’t let it happen to you like it happened to me, that because you finish the customs procedure before handling eBay’s warranty, they tell you that you’re not covered by the warranty, which is 30 days.

Hello @eralmeida34,
Thank you for your message. From your message, I understand that the shipment is through our international shipping, and if this is the case, you will not have to pay customs duties.
If the seller is going to send you the item through eBay International Shipping, you will pay the shipping costs when you complete the purchase. Customs duties, import fees, and applicable taxes will also be paid when you complete the purchase, or when the item arrives.
When you buy an item from a seller through eBay International Shipping, you will enjoy lower international shipping costs negotiated by eBay. Remember that if you buy several items from sellers who participate in this program, you will not be able to combine shipping costs.
Once you have completed the purchase, the seller will send the item to the shipping center from where it will be sent to you. Tracking information is added automatically so you can track the item from the shipping center to your doorstep.
You can read more in our Customs duties and import fees here. I hope this information clears up your questions.
Kind regards.
Cinthia

OP3 years agoHi, yesterday my package from the US arrived at customs here in Spain and through tracking I saw that its status is “Held or Under Investigation by customs”, what should I do? What procedure should I follow? It's a single item that doesn't even weigh a kilo. It's a gift for my father and it's important that I get it out of there, but I don't know how.
I need help. Thanks

Hello @eralmeida34,
Thank you for your message. I understand that the carrier is processing the item and we ask that you be patient, since eBay cannot speed up this process. If a couple of days go by without any update, we ask that you contact the carrier directly.
I’m not saying this will be your case, but in the rare event that the carrier asks you to pay VAT again and also pay import duties, in order to release your item from customs, we suggest that you make the VAT payment and then you can request a refund only for the VAT that has been duplicated here and we will refund you.
To request a VAT refund on a completed order, sign in and upload proof of overpayment. We will ask you for the information related to the transaction and you will receive a refund of the VAT you paid twice. I hope this information is helpful
Best regards,
Cinthia
