Repeated failure of the eBay-PayPal payment gateway

Hello friends:

Let me tell you the story. For about a year now, every purchase I make fails. Specifically at the moment of checkout, when Ebay takes you to the PayPal payment gateway and you have to log in. There the error pops up saying "we haven't been able to verify that it's you", and therefore the purchase cannot be completed.

I've spoken with PayPal several times, and it's not them. In fact, if I log in directly to my PayPal account, there's no problem.

I've spoken with the bank, and they assure me the card is fine.

I deduce that it's Ebay that's causing the problem. I've already contacted them, waiting for a response...

My theory is that Ebay records your IP, and if the next time you log in with a different one (either because you're using a VPN or because you're in a different place than usual), the problems start. (that's just my theory). I travel a lot and therefore, I won't always have the same IP.

Any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else? Is there any alternative way to pay with PayPal from Ebay without the payment gateway?

Hi, I don’t know, but I have a question.

Now it’s Ebay that directly collects the money from the sale, of an item that isn’t theirs, the seller waits for the money to be deposited by Ebay.

Is it because Ebay really likes applying percentages to transactions, but doesn’t like at all payments where others apply a cut to the transaction?
