Pay an expense for something you don't have?
The seller, from the UK, accepts my offer but when I pay it tells me that the seller doesn't deliver to my location and I can't continue, accept, or reject. When the payment period ends, the item is left as unpaid. And Ebay says I have to pay fees for having accepted the purchase.
Is this normal? Because it seems more typical of mafia stuff than of a serious online sales portal.

·3 years agoDoes eBay ask you to pay them for an unpaid purchase? That's very strange, because what eBay can do is limit or block your account, but it can't ask you for money for it or so that it won't do it; that's illegal. In any case, it's part of eBay's participation policy, although very questionable since if you're in Spain, eBay has to follow the law and if the seller doesn't ship, it's not your problem, it's the seller's and eBay's. In Spain the law does not oblige you to complete an online sales transaction for products; in fact it does the opposite, it protects the consumer's right to cancel and to have all purchase costs refunded, from the commitment to buy the product, up to 14 calendar days after receiving the shipment.

·3 years agoYou have to ask the seller to remove the shipping restriction, that is, to allow people to buy from outside what was originally offered.
Example.
They post an ad and by default (probably they haven’t seen it) they only sell in the UK.
The seller receives an email asking you to sell it to them and you live in Spain. They reply yes, but they don’t change the shipping cost options where it said they don’t sell outside the UK (quite normal after Brexit), so you’ll need to get in touch and explain it so they edit the item and allow the purchase from outside the country where it was listed.
It’s happened to me and when you explain things, people understand.
