VAT payment on purchases outside the European Community
Why do I have to pay VAT (VAT) on purchases outside the European Community?
It is a national tax in each country, for its fellow citizens, not for non-resident foreigners

·2 years agoDo you think that if you go on vacation to the United States and pay for the hotel where you stayed, they will NOT charge you VAT because you are a European citizen?
Best regards.

·2 years agoI’m sharing what my experience has been as a COMPANY.
I bought items in a EUROPEAN COUNTRY, and the goods were always delivered to me with an INVOICE WITHOUT VAT, “also because the percentages vary from country to country”
Every three months I declared the goods I had purchased abroad and PAID the VAT to the Spanish Tax Agency.
When I sold here in SPAIN, I issued an invoice with VAT.
The final buyer has ALWAYS been the one who paid THE VAT.
There is NO LEGAL way NOT to pay it, whether it’s a consumer good or NOT a consumer good.
As a private individual I can’t buy a car in Germany, not pay VAT in Germany, and not pay it when I register it in Spain either.
Best regards.
