The first time in years that a buyer has ripped me off. They’ve got free rein to screw you over big time
I had an unpleasant experience, one of those scams where they tell you the expensive €750 product is broken
I didn’t know that now you can’t defend yourself in an open case anymore, even if you put no returns accepted, the buyer has become God. All very absurd
I sell him an arcade game with 4 PCB boards working and clean
He gets it, and immediately sends me a couple of awful-quality photos showing the game looks bad; even VGA wouldn’t produce those captures. Must be that he doesn’t have money to buy a €20 phone from the year 2000, but he does to buy a €750 game
He opens a return for the item directly, for item received different or damaged, and boom, no way to defend myself; before you could send photos etc., now nothing. I have to accept the return yes or yes, no matter what you say; as eBay says, if a buyer opens a return, it’s refunded because that’s their policy.
It arrives back to me, and of course it arrives not working; don’t expect him to send back the good one, he’ll have already used that one fine
The funny part is you even pay for shipping from his house to yours; luckily mine came to €18 for 20 kilos and a big box
It’s like turning into Amazon, everything free for the buyer; anyone can rip you off and you as the seller take the hit for everything
Thank God eBay refunded me the original sale price and I’ve only lost the €18 for shipping from his house to mine
Now let’s see if they fix the board he sent me broken and I’ll sell it again, and if not, it’ll be sold for parts for €300 since it was a full kit and he was only interested in the game, the rest didn’t matter to him.
What’s insane is that they also refunded him the €750, a user with 14 feedback and me with 2,000+ over 20 years
He’ll say, what a bunch of idiots these people are, free rein.
You’re left with a stupid look on your face, and that’s even though I got the money back and by selling it again I’m going to make a lot
I’m terrified to keep selling arcade games or expensive items, because they can do the same to me, and I won’t be lucky every time.

·2 years agoYou can no longer trust anyone; in these cases I advise asking for an upfront amount by Bizum as a deposit and then praying that the buyer isn’t a freeloader or a scoundrel. I also come across sellers who put in the basic description that accompanies the photo of their items that they offer refund guarantees in case it doesn’t arrive, and then they send you an email or put in the item description, but further down (where many of us don’t get to read) that: "they are not responsible for the money if the item doesn’t arrive". That really does seem villainous to me. Good luck and blessings
