NEW SCAM ATTEMPT
I bought an item on May 10, 2024, a Canon Rf L USM lens. The item was listed on May 9 for €900 with free shipping; on the 10th he lowered it to €540, and trusting in eBay's buyer protection and the PayPal payment method, I decided to buy it. The item was advertised as immaculate, with official warranty still valid for a year, the seller has had an eBay account since 2005, never sold, only bought, 100% positive feedback.
Well, when I bought the item I also wrote to the seller, but he replied three days later, and below I'll leave you a summary of everything that happened after that:
1) he tells me: I'm in the hospital after having had a car accident, I'll be here for a week, when I'm discharged I'll send it to you, and to make up for the inconvenience of the wait he offers to give me a partial refund of €20 (to win my
trust, I suppose).
2) after 12 days of waiting he finally writes to me saying that he's at home and will ship it as soon as possible; indeed, he has bought a Correos shipping label because the eBay platform updated me that the item was shipped and on its way.
3) after another 6 days of waiting, having received nothing, I write again to the seller to ask for a tracking number to see what is happening with my order, to which he replies that “his brother” should have shipped it and that he never did, that I shouldn't worry, that he's going to buy another label and send me the item shortly.
4) I gave him 1 more day, and although this time he gave me a tracking number, on the UPS website it said that the label had been created but the item had not been handed over to the carrier and had not been dropped off either.
5) Tired of all this back and forth and the soap opera, I go to the eBay page and open a dispute, I have also opened a dispute on PayPal requesting a refund because I no longer trust this transaction at all and the buyer protection guarantee is also about to end.
6) In short, the seller looking for excuses, buying shipping labels, dragging out the time with the aim of losing the buyer protection and thus keeping the money! Now waiting for the dispute to close and for PayPal to refund my money.
7) I do NOT RECOMMEND buying on eBay unless they are sellers with maximum trust and a good history; it seems that nowadays all kinds of scams and attempts are still carried out. A very bitter experience since it made me feel insecure, poor communication with the seller, a transaction with lots of incidents and back and forth, lies in between, attempted scam. I hope this summary helps someone else. Regards
