Formal complaint about eBay and its business verification process
As a registered company for a long time, once again without reason they are asking us to update our details, and we have followed the instructions provided by eBay to the letter to verify our business account. We used the official authorization form provided by eBay, which we completed correctly and uploaded to the system as indicated.
However, the document has been rejected five times for "not meeting the requirements," even though we used exactly the same form they provide.
After a legal review with our lawyer, we reached the following conclusion:
The most serious issue is that eBay's own form does not include some of the mandatory fields they later require, such as:
Company letterhead or official stamp
Space to clearly indicate the signer's full name alongside the signature
This procedure creates a contradictory, opaque, and frustrating situation for companies that are trying to comply with their policies. All indications are that this system is designed more to block verification and delay payments than to facilitate fair and legitimate access to the platform.
We request the following from eBay:
That it update its form so it accurately reflects the requirements its own verification team demands
That it offer a transparent and consistent review process
That it stop the arbitrary rejections that affect day-to-day operations and the trust of professional users
To all companies who think there is nothing that can be done in situations like this: action can be taken. If we do not receive a satisfactory solution, we will consider filing a formal complaint with the competent authorities of the European Union, as we consider possible unfair commercial practices and unjustified blocking of services.
