New statuses for second-hand clothing
Dear sellers,
At eBay, we believe in the benefits of buying and selling pre-owned fashion, as well as its environmental impact. To help you simplify your selling process and clear up any doubts buyers may have when buying pre-owned clothing, we’re pleased to let you know that we’re expanding our item condition options for pre-owned clothing listings.
3 new pre-owned item conditions to choose from
Before, when you listed pre-owned clothing, you could only select «Pre-owned» as the item condition. From February 4, 2025, you’ll have three options to choose from: Pre-owned: Excellent, Pre-owned: Good and Pre-owned: Acceptable. The existing condition «New with defects» will also be renamed «New with imperfections».
Check the table below to see a detailed description of each of these conditions.
|
Pre-owned: Excellent |
Like new, previously used, but with little or no sign of wear. This item has been used before, but is in excellent condition. Any signs of wear should be shown and described in the seller listing. |
|
Pre-owned: Good |
Lightly used, with slight signs of wear or visible imperfections. This item has been lightly used, but is in good condition. It may have some signs of wear, but all imperfections should be shown and described in the seller listing. |
|
Pre-owned: Acceptable |
Clearly visible defects, clear signs of wear, or missing or damaged components. The item has very visible imperfections and signs of wear. All imperfections must be shown and described in the seller listing. |
To see the full list of categories that will include these new conditions and to learn more about what counts as defects, signs of wear, and imperfections, visit our page Pre-owned fashion conditions.
With these new options, you’ll be able to give your buyers a clearer idea of your item’s condition, which will help reduce cases of returns due to condition-related issues.
Want to improve your pre-owned clothing listings?
From February 4, you’ll be able to use our updated item conditions when creating or editing pre-owned clothing listings. Here are some important details you should know:
- Once this change is applied, all your Pre-owned clothing listings will automatically be updated to Pre-owned: Good.
- You’ll need to review these listings to make sure the condition accurately reflects each item and, if necessary, do it individually or in bulk to select the appropriate condition.
- If you use a third-party provider to manage your listings, our new condition options will be available through their tools.
To prepare for this change, review your listings to determine which new conditions best fit each item.
Once the new conditions are available, review your listings as soon as possible, since some are crucial for minimizing returns and ensuring your listings appear in the correct search category.
