Accept Return?
To keep it brief, a buyer from the US bought a film from me for a certain amount.
I sent it and the next day he tells me he wants to return it because it doesn’t have English and opens a return request.
I confirm that it does and I tell him he can even see that it says so on the back cover. He replies that, despite that, he wants to continue with the return.
So then, in the options available in the return request, besides refunding the buyer and sending him a message, I have:
Accept the return. Contact the buyer to agree on the details of the return shipping. Wait to receive the item before refunding the buyer.
Decline the return. This will automatically close the buyer’s request.
Now I’m wondering, if I decline the return, does the request really close and does the buyer have to keep the product? I’m afraid that if so, this wouldn’t stop him from later opening a claim alleging anything. You also mention that E can ignore my decision and refund the buyer.
On the other hand, if I accept it, from what I’ve read I have to provide a shipping label, which for the US is almost impossible, but some of you say I can say that I can’t provide a label; in that case does the seller have to sort out returning it on their own? If so that would be best, because when he saw what it would cost to send it back, he’d lose the desire to do it.
Any information or advice will be welcome.

·3 years agoThat the day after the postal shipment they suddenly notice that it doesn't have English and ask for cancellation sounds like a scam, surely if you had delayed the shipment they wouldn't have thought to look at that detail 🤔
I think that last month or in June someone wrote a thread to report that precisely from the USA there are a lot of smart-alecks who manage to get the items for free because from Spain they couldn't generate the damn labels for returns

OP2 years agoSome do it to try to scam people, but in recent years I've come across a few characters who simply buy without looking, or who think anything goes. I've recently had a couple of cases where they requested a refund while the order was already on its way simply because they don't want it anymore. Mind-blowing... I imagine Amazon has done a lot of damage with its return policy and generic ads, which have gotten people used to not looking at the photos or reading the description.

OP3 years agoAny idea whether this criminal gang closes buyers' requests when they no longer take any more action or, on the contrary, do they stay open with the money held in aeternum? Before, there used to be action deadlines for the buyer, but now that they hold the money and can use it to play Monopoly, who knows.
I have an item not received claim that is about to make a month, the buyer isn't acting but isn't closing it either. If a month goes by and it still hasn't been closed, I honestly don't know what to think.

·3 years agoHi,
I don’t know if you sold the item as a business or as a private individual; that should matter, as eBay says, in the event of a return, the problem is that eBay sets the rules, but it’s the first to break them.😆
In the link I put below, you can read how eBay reacted chaotically to an attempted scam involving an American.
Read it to the end, it might help you get an idea of what’s waiting for you.
Best regards.

OP3 years agoI sold it as a private individual, but I had already read the thread you linked before opening this one, just another craziness from this company and it keeps getting worse... but I've already been clear for a long time now about how they operate; the thing is that for now I keep selling in this den of thieves and I want to know how to proceed so I don't mess it up right off the bat in certain cases. I know they'll screw me over in the near future, but for now if I can keep dodging some bullets, all the better.
Regards.

·3 years agoIt’s only a matter of time, as I can see you know.
The fact of selling here is like playing Russian roulette; sooner or later the bullet comes, that’s what happened to me as a seller. The bullet was the scammer, the gun I had to my head was eBay, the eBay security team pulled the trigger.
Selling like that was too stressful for me.
Regards.

OP3 years agoIt's true what you say, it's very stressful. Also, the fact that they charge the commission when you get scammed is beyond a joke. On other platforms they can rip you off, but at least the buyer pays the commission and, in the event of a scam, the company doesn't take a big cut from you.
Honestly, for me it's because there are some things here that I can sell for a high price to the rest of the world and it's the only place to do it, but sometimes I don't know what to say to you, we're still feeding the monster and until this thing sinks completely, this won't stop.

·3 years agoHi, if you say that you don't accept returns, I think you can reject it, but you risk a negative rating.
On the other hand, you can accept that you do accept the return, and then indicate that you're unable to provide a shipping label, and then the buyer has to take care of it, and you don't have to refund until you receive the product back. Most of the time, when they see this, they don't do it. The best part of all this? They can't leave you a negative rating anymore.

OP3 years agoI always have it set that I don’t accept returns, but as far as I understand, that doesn’t free you from having to accept some. Also, I’m not sure whether after rejecting a return, the buyer can still open a claim for item not as described.
In the end I accepted the return and they asked me to confirm the address, and it’s been left as pending shipment by the seller with a deadline, the money withheld, of course. I haven’t seen the option to provide a shipping label to the buyer, and I haven’t seen anywhere the one saying that I can’t provide it. I think it’s because the buyer opened the request claiming they changed their mind, and it could be that in this case you’re not required to accept it or pay for the return shipping.
Anyway, when the buyer sees how much it’s going to cost to send it back from the US with tracking, they’ll probably lose interest, but of course, for now the money is withheld and who knows whether it’ll be released when the deadline ends. And to top it off, another buyer has brought up the same mess with me...
I still have some doubts, do you know if a seller can open a return request and, if it’s denied by the seller, later open a claim for item not as described?
