No visits, no sales
I imagine I won’t be the only one in this situation. For the past 2–3 months or so, everything I relist usually ends up finishing the month with 2–5 views at most. Something is very wrong here and I don’t think it’s the traffic; I’m aware of eBay’s decline, even so it’s a very famous site that should still have a lot of traffic.
I have a small shop here where I sell a bit of everything, mainly retro video games and movies. I’m aware that movies are very much on the decline and it’s a miracle to manage to sell anything in DVD format, so that part is fine: what doesn’t add up for me, and I can’t explain in any way, is 0 and 0 and 0 in the video game market niche. I know from earlier and distant experiences that there is quite a bit of demand and traffic there. I can’t explain how X products that should have hundreds and hundreds of views on my profile (my average was 15 to 200 views) have spent a quarter with only 1 sale.
When I came here to start selling seriously at the end of last year, I know that on average in 2 months I sold about 10, and they all had quite a bit of traction. I haven’t changed anything at all (even now asking for more features) I list them and nothing at all. The same with everything at 0. Is it a bug, a reset? Is this really on such a decline as to have 0 across the board?? ... what the hell is going on here?

·2 years agoI stumbled across this thread by chance and here's another one with the same problem. I've been on Ebay for many years, but since around 2020 I've noticed a huge drop in sales. I used to sell to the whole world and even some of those impossible things I thought I’d throw in the trash.
I agree with those who say something's not right, or simply that some profiles, for whatever reason, aren't being given visibility. It's not normal to have zero views on some items.
But on other platforms it's more or less the same, I post on the other two best-known ones and hardly anything sells there either.
It could be other buyer motivations, new hobbies and, above all, the big postage rates from Correos that will also be going up again in a few days. On some small items you either sell in lots or it's impossible, the shipping is worth more than what you're selling.
If on top of that the new control they've been talking about, that they're going to put on second-hand sales at the retail level, turns out to be true, it will be the final blow to all this. Thousands of things will end up in the fireplace; I don't throw anything in the trash and even less so at the recycling center.

·4 years agoIt’s since they changed the payment systems on eBay and removed PayPal, bank transfer... people have not accepted this new payment method linked to eBay and both buyers and sellers have moved to other platforms or simply left.
Many people used the money they earned and had in their PayPal account to buy things again, they never transferred it to their bank account, it was a hobby, they’ve taken away PayPal, which is what they were used to, and they stopped selling, so since they don’t have money in their accounts, they don’t buy either.
Many buyers don’t want to give their details or verify themselves, so they don’t buy either.
Many commission increases and fees being charged where there weren’t any before, a registered letter costs 4.60 plus the envelope, without any hassle, gas, queues at the post office, if now they also charge commission on shipping costs, how much do you have to add to shipping so you don’t lose money? will buyers pay that? many won’t want to pay it, thinking it’s money the seller is taking even if they lose out.
It’s a whole mix, many things at once, which in the end serve as eBay anthropology, eBay devours itself and maybe soon there’ll be nothing left.

OP4 years agoI understand that everything is very expensive and that the platform doesn’t let you buy or sell either. Even so, people keep buying here and don’t seem to care much about the price hikes or paying high shipping costs. I’ll explain: it’s crystal clear that eBay has taken an exaggerated nosedive; a domestic shipment of 0.5 kg to 1 kg costing €7 to €12 in Spanish territory should be punishable,
charging 21% to a private seller for a free store and all that, etc. etc... it’s outrageously excessive. But I insist that all it takes is a couple of searches and seeing how other products get added to favorites; there are usually bids and sales (in my case, I stick to domestic sales)
What leaves me speechless is the visits and favorites on the own store page. Everything is at absolute zero for me for months now and it’s impossible for me to believe. However, I look at incoming traffic or the categories or keywords where I have my stuff listed, and yes, there is movement... ?¿?¿? It must be a bug or an eBay error, right? I have quite a few products that I know are searched for and bought. Which I can’t explain in any way. Sometimes I tell colleagues to enter from their account and some do show up in searches and others don’t, or they appear mixed up ?¿?¿?¿ could it be that now they no longer give visibility to those who don’t pay for professional or big store accounts? ¿? thing that doesn’t quite add up for me either because that would just be shooting themselves in the foot.
Why, knowing all this, doesn’t eBay do anything to change it? And not only that, but they also punish users more and more and more. Do they want to run this into the ground on purpose? The site is in really bad shape and they know what to change so everything goes back to how it was before, and they won’t lift a finger. 1 A significant reduction in fees 2 offers for both buying and selling 3 go back to the old payment methods...
