Hi there. Since January, sales have dropped, in my case, by 70-80%. I had never seen anything like it on Ebay, and I’ve been selling here for about 10 years.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar drop?¿
I honestly don’t understand what could be happening. Even with promotions and discounts, nothing is moving, except, curiously, on weekends.

·7 months agoHello, for a while now I’ve only been buying/selling very specific things. Another platform meets my expectations better, both for selling and for buying. Ebay should take urgent measures and change its philosophy or it will end up losing its users. It only has to look at what its biggest competitor offers and improve on it. It should read these messages.

·6 months agoNobody buys on a platform they don't know... Ebay has fallen behind with important segments of the population, younger people, they don't even know Ebay, there is no advertising, there never has been and of course, if people don't know you, nobody buys from you...

·2 years agoThis has been happening to me since eBay suspended my account to "force" me into an upgrade as a professional seller. They deleted all my items for sale and I had to create the sales listings again. I've been in this for over 20 years and I had never noticed a sales slump like now. Little question for eBay sellers and sellers on other platforms. Have you noticed a significant drop in sales in general? Because I still see terraces packed, but on the other hand the number of people who supposedly can't make ends meet has also gone up (that's what they say, but they also go out partying and don't hold back. A matter of priorities I guess). It's possible that tax changes in the EU may affect the seller, but not the buyer. Obviously, if I don't sell I don't buy either, we depend on each other.

·2 years agoWell, it's simple: people want to bid on the item and get free shipping. On eBay the fees are high and shipping too because the seller sets it. You can't get euros for pesetas, so you can get lots of views and no one buys it. Basically, the best thing is to look for other buying and selling sites because eBay is already half dead.

·2 years agoDear Ebay, the same thing usually happens to me as to all sellers, sales have fallen off a cliff, I was already selling little and for such small amounts,( well my sales are stamps and philatelic envelopes of little value) ( well like all private sellers, I think, we sell to keep ourselves busy,) but something happens to me, I don't know if it happens to anyone else, that the listings of the items I post, I post them correctly and then I see them, and they all come up duplicated, I got in touch with you, and I told you about the problem, that I would have to for the moment stop selling, and mark it as if I were going on vacation, and you replied that I should do it.
To me something is not right on Ebay, what I am going to do is tell them I'm going on vacation. let's see if they see the problem they have, and solve the problem.

·2 years agoTwo years have passed and for me everything still remains pared down to the bare minimum. It’s been a kind of wake-up call after the pandemic. Buyers look a lot, keep track, but leave the auctions empty, without buying. It’s not exclusive to Spain; I think there’s less and less money in people’s hands, everything is insanely expensive, and they think twice before spending on whims and leisure. I work a lot with historical collectibles and it’s terrible, I sell very little right now compared to what I used to sell. I think this started to decline after the 2008 crash, but it has worsened in recent years. On top of that, eBay fees are high, taxes are deducted automatically, but if a package arrives with IOSS indicating VAT PAID, customs put it through another filter and stab you with €30.50 in handling fees, even though the purchase may be valued at €5 (I returned four orders last summer because of this abuse). And 2024 is not starting any better; now, not content with what they already take from us, they’re opening the season with DAC7. As of January 1, 2024, all platforms are legally required to provide the Tax Agency with information about the transactions carried out on them. Bank details, the total amount of money obtained each quarter, the number of sales in the quarter, and the fees paid must be reported. In other words, the little you can get from selling an old, second-hand item, which already had everything paid for when it was new, has to be paid for again. They don’t know where to get more money from and anything goes. Result? I’ll probably have to leave eBay and Todocolección because so much effort just isn’t worth such poor results. That said, football clubs’ debts are untouched, not talked about, not collected... it’s taboo.

·2 years agoNo, what happens is that people look for alternative websites with better prices and more stock abroad; since the pandemic I’ve been looking at other sites and people buy compulsively and everything sells out fast, people say they don’t have money but they rely on benefits, wages, family help or installment payments, on eBay they send you offers and you add shipping plus fees and you’re left with nothing, you don’t accept them because they seem ridiculous and you sell your items on other sites and delete the listing. Add speculation, the UK exit and their rip-offs, etc...
On eBay I sell less and less every day and I’m moving to other websites where my listings don’t last for months.
Except for new items, eBay is no longer a place to sell or buy, even less so retro stuff; I buy less and less every day and as for selling, I won’t even tell you, it’s laughable...
Greed breaks the bag and that’s going to be the downfall of eBay because of its policies and allowing speculation, with thousands of websites out there that are clear competitors with better prices, eBay was kept going by retro and vintage, like any collectibles.
eBay does read what we write, but I guess they think a miracle from Baby Jesus will save it, or they’ll sell it to the highest bidder.

·3 years agoOne of the latest replies from the eBay employee who answers in the Mentors forum (which don’t exist, by the way) has blown my mind.
A seller canceled a purchase at the buyer’s request, so far so good.
But the seller was stunned when he received the message from eBay confirming the cancellation and telling him that they were going to deduct the amount from his bank account.
“If I still haven’t received the buyer’s payment, eBay still has it!” replied the poor guy.
The eBay employee’s response.
This is how it works: for now we’re going to take the amount out of your account and then in a few days the buyer’s payment will arrive, so everything will be settled.
Unbelievable.

·2 years agoI noticed that and I canceled it before being charged so they wouldn’t screw me over, so be careful when you sell and cancel the sale before the charge reaches the bank.
I preferred it when PayPal handled the charges, but eBay didn’t like that because sellers didn’t get screwed over and it covered us.

·3 years agoWe have stopped selling on E-bay after the change in store fees. It was impossible to survive like that... It’s clear that the platform itself doesn’t even listen to its own forum; they’ve preferred to cut off their own head thinking what they did was an excellent idea, and all they’ve managed to do is lose millions of products and thousands of the best sellers, and this has made buyers lose interest in the platform too, since what they’re looking for they can’t find here and no one is going to waste time searching in a place that doesn’t find anything.
I’m very sorry E-BAY, but you yourselves have made the decision to lose your best sellers and destroy yourselves because of the platform’s own greed.
Fire your CEO, hold a company meeting and change your decision-making as soon as possible if you really want to save E-BAY; if not, I wish you a happy sinking.

·3 years agoWow, those rates, on another Spanish collecting website with auctions and fixed prices, postage up to 500g is €4.66 with Correos tracking number, using Inpost (formerly Punto Pack) it's €4.37 and it also has a tracking code

·3 years agoI'm the same: I have 70 active products, including good items and others that are more ordinary in categories that supposedly have traffic and at least some buyer interest (at least on other sites I have likes, followers, contacts and some sales etc...) but here, however, my last sale was on January 4th, the one before that in November, and the one before that a lot, lot earlier, before Nov.
I assume that those of us from Spain mostly, whether because of proximity or convenience, ship through the national courier company. I have a question about this and I really hope someone can help me, since they don't do it in the in-person offices or in customer service:
well, many of you know that there has been an increase in official national rates this year, in my case everything I usually send is the standard registered letters service up to half a kg = 6.71€ the question is:
Is there any kind of subscription or monthly flat rate to save on these shipping costs? because I went to the office to ask about this very thing and they told me that there is a flat rate for prepaid postage - 4.55€ but they are extra-small letters of up to 100 or 200g.. I'm not interested in that service. I would like to save money or sign up for some letter service up to half a kg: I asked and insisted because on the official Correos website it clearly says that they have flat rates starting at 10€ regardless of weight in the product, after a long time waiting to be helped they told me that that ''flat rate'' was subject to packaging purchases. I don't really get it: I know the existing products in stock and their price in the shop but then... what am I supposed to pay if I wanted letters up to half a kg? buy the envelopes + a fixed 6.71€ shipping fee anyway? because if the only thing they're going to discount is the weight (lots) it doesn't pay off at all, it's losses and more losses.
Because I see sellers who, unless it's for sales strategies (inflating the base cost to reduce shipping cost or make it free) ... as far as I know there is no way to avoid the nearly 7€ hit for a half-kilo shipment... or is there?

·3 years agoLuckily everything arrived correctly; by using a bit of ingenuity and putting a bit of pressure on the seller, sending him to Correos to pick it up at his house, and with a couple of eBay stickers on the Correos label I saved the goods. Another point in my favor is that eBay takes a while to issue the refund and in some cases the buyer doesn’t realize that they are not obliged to return the items if a dispute is closed.

I’ve been on eBay for 23 years, I bought and sold with no problem at all, then I stopped selling for years for no particular reason, until this Christmas when I decided to start selling again since I had a lot of stuff around the house, especially retro computer and video game stuff, so I decided to go for it, I made the mistake of my first sale (after 10 years without selling anything), a video game bundle for €600, the first thing that surprised me was that for selling those €600 they took more than €67, even so I listed it for sale with everything detailed and with photos of everything, until I sold it, they had never filed a return claim against me and only because one of the video games was missing a detail on the box despite the fact that I specified everything and the buyer had all the photos with details (I buy what shows in the photos), but just by the buyer putting in a return for item not as described eBay no longer looked or investigated any further, siding with the buyer. I refused the return because it didn’t seem fair to me for the buyer to change their mind (the buyer already had me suspicious because they didn’t pay for the item until the deadline). Well, in the end eBay ruled in the buyer’s favor and the return, with me having to pay the return shipping, not knowing whether I’ll get my items back and, as if that weren’t enough, eBay sends me the €67 invoice for the sale, bringing my profit from that sale to -€92
So you tell me... Is it worth selling on a platform where, whether you’re right or not, you’ll lose money?

·3 years agoThe scammer is going to keep them for free with the con, and in the returned box he’ll put other things in, swapping them out. You should have started by selling the cheapest stuff, even first trying other places where you can do in-person deals or, even better, in video game forums. NEVER sell with "cash on delivery" like happened to you here and on other websites: the money should go into YOUR HANDS before sending anything. It’s no use for wallapop, ebay or similar to handle the payments, because in the end there are a thousand tricks to keep the products for free.
Would you go to the supermarket, take the products first, and then pay another day if you feel like it?
Be careful too with the payment methods you choose, online there’s a lot of fraud with Bizum because scammers instead of sending money make a funds request for the same amount, quite a few distracted people accept it without reading the message and once it’s transferred there’s no way to cancel the transaction.
If there’s no in-person deal, have them pay by bank transfer or send the money in Paypal friends mode.

·3 years agoI'M NOT A SLAVE TO THESE PEOPLE,.......... an 11.5% commission, on a sale made, for a private individual!!!!........ ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. I wouldn't even think about giving it to eBay, no matter how popular it is. The items for sale are mine, ....they don't have ANYTHING.
I left some years ago, and I don't plan to sell here again, ....and I hardly buy either.
I've also stopped buying from sellers who used to be my go-to, and I've stopped buying on this platform by 98%,...... to put it another way.
eBay has shot itself in the foot, and has put a tombstone on itself. .......RIP.
You'll see how this company ends up going up for auction,......and a Chinese or Russian multinational will end up with it,..... just to say something,.....ha, ha, ha, ha.

·4 years agoSure, if it’s not worth it, I’m not going to post anything again until this improves a lot, and the loss of buyers is noticeable. I refuse to pay high commissions for everything; there are other channels where you pay ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
