I bought a second hand Chanel bag for 2.958,30 USD. The pictures and the description of the bag shown some regular scratches from wear and some discolouring and I accepted to buy it. I received a package from Greater China and paid with credit card VAT and import tax of 759,45 Euro.
I opened the box and the bag I received is a flasc gelatine bag without any structure and a terrible smell of mold. Within few minutes I have an alergic reaction proving that the smell is active mold, not just a smell. I brought the bag to Chanel boutique (i live 10 minutes distance from a boutique) and their conclusion is:
-the bag have been chemical treated which irreversibly affected the structure, the leather solidity and the overall strenght of the bag;
- the bag is presenting a strong smell of yeasts;
- the charms of the bag are not in their original state, 1 connecting chain of the charms is missing;
NONE OF THESE HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED BY THE SELLER. If these problems have been mentioned I would have never buy it. Because of the seller fault I have to return it as I cannot benefit from it. But the seller doesnt want to cover my costs of VAT and import tax. It is seller´s fault and dishonesty, then the seller should bear my costs. All the pictures with the bag shows the bag solid, standing still, looking normal. In reality the bag is like gelatine, impossible to stand, and when hanged is looking horible. The mold, also unacceptable. Iam new on Ebay, and I was so happy to discover this possibility to buy what I like, and Iam shocked to have such a terrible situation from my 1st purchase. I really feel I am the victim of a fraud. Overall I paid apox 4.000 USD for an item which cannot be used. I called DHL and customs and they say that the tax I paid cannot be refunded, because the seller should have mark the shipping as temporary export, if there was the option for return. Please help!
