More than 20 years as an eBay user, since 2004, with 100% positive feedback in almost 700 transactions, and a little over a year ago, just like that, everything went to hell. The thing is I sold a high-end turntable, with the option of both "buy it now" and placing bids. It was strange that someone with only a few feedback ratings chose the "buy it now" option when they could have placed a bid. Good for me, I thought. The thing is, they buy, pay, and I ship it, and it arrived at its destination in just 4 days, from the Canary Islands to the Czech Republic. The package was worth more than 700 euros, and that’s where the buyer’s scheme comes in, in collusion as I mentioned in the subject with eBay. I wrote to him to, since it showed as delivered, ask how it had arrived and whether everything was in order. He flat-out told me he hadn’t received anything, so he asked me for "signature proof". As far as I know, any registered package comes with signature proof, and here lies the crux of the matter. The buyer contacts eBay and it is eBay who asks me for the signature proof at destination. I let them know the shipment tracking number that shows as delivered, as well as the shipping address that was listed in the app. They told me that wasn’t enough, and that I had 10 days to send them the signature proof. I didn’t understand anything. I called Correos and they told me that an international registered package always comes with signature proof, but the problem is that eBay gave me 10 days to obtain proof of that signature and Correos, which first had to contact its counterpart in the Czech Republic, took... almost a month! Finally I received the signature proof, which wasn’t a signature, but a badly scribbled squiggle, but that’s when eBay told me I had gone past the maximum deadline they had given me. All the emails were already coming to me in English, from ebay.com, so customer service in Spain had been pushed down to third place. That said, to this day, they are still demanding the amount of the item’s value from me, when the buyer already has both the product and the money that eBay advanced them, unbelievable! Not even with the obvious evidence I have do they do anything. My account is not active and they keep demanding the money, money I will not give them under any circumstances. I have all the documentation in case this goes any further and ends up in court. eBay itself tells me that it "understands my frustration," but that the deadlines are what they are and that they are not going to reverse their policy. Unbelievable. Be very careful when selling high-value items, because if you end up with a scam buyer like this, you’re left without the item you shipped and without the money.
