Attempted delivery abroad

Hello, can someone please tell me what does attempted delivery abroad mean? Is it a failed attempt of delivery or are they trying to deliver the product? I have been home all day and no one tried to deliver anything so far. But I'm worried that they won't try again and return the product. Do they return the product if the attempt is unsuccessful or do the leave it in the nearest post office?
