I would like to know if eBay allows rating a seller without having completed a purchase, taking into account how they handle communication and the consistency of their listing. My intention was to purchase an item that offered several options within the same listing. However, the description was incomplete, the photos were confusing, and at the end the seller stated that questions could be asked in case of doubt. Following that instruction, I contacted the seller, but instead of giving me a clear answer, they simply referred me back to the published photos. I reviewed the listing again to make sure I wasn’t mistaken and wrote once more, politely asking if they could explain the difference between the options or if they had another listing where the complete product was shown. Their response was to tell me that I don’t know how to use eBay, again posting the same images from their listing, without providing any clear information about the product. I find this type of treatment disrespectful and counterproductive, as it creates a frustrating experience not only with the seller, but also with the platform itself. A comment like that attacks the buyer instead of resolving the issue, and it conveys the impression that eBay does not protect its users from sellers who have poor communication or little interest in providing proper customer service. In my opinion, this kind of attitude undermines trust in eBay, because a buyer should not receive evasive or dismissive responses—as if the problem were knowing how to use the platform—nor be blamed for the lack of clarity in a listing. The seller’s reply makes it seem as though the issue lies in using eBay itself, rather than in their poor communication.
